quality printing is paramount to photography
Photographic artist Corin Ford Forrester studied traditional black and white photography at the Haliburton School of the Arts where she received the highest standing in the Sir Sanford Fleming College Photo Arts Program. She also has a degree in Microbiology from the University of Guelph.
Since 2007 (when she first joined the KPG) she has exhibited and sold her composite photographs in festivals and galleries in the Kawarthas, where she is based, and in Toronto, & Ottawa. Her work was included in the Art Gallery of Peterborough’s 2012 Triennial Exhibition. She was an Artist In Residence in 2014 at Quetico Provincial Park near Thunder Bay, Ontario. The Christensen Fine Art Gallery in Peterborough hosted a solo exhibition of Corin's photographs during the SPARK Photography Festival in April 2018. The Elaine Fleck Gallery in Toronto exhibited her work in 2015 and will be again in September 2018.
Encouraging reflection on the beauty and sacredness of the natural world is central to her art. Time spent photographing nature and landscapes provides her with the raw materials, and the inspiration, for integrating multiple photos into new creations.
Her recent works reference stained glass windows, mandalas and traditional symbols used as spiritual guides or for meditation. She creates geometric patterns and shapes and then inlays photographic textures, carefully considering colour, lighting, symmetry and composition. Her artistic intention is to provide a conduit for connecting in a meaningful way with the exquisite world around us.
